Exam
Our Scheduling Coordinators will help you check in using our automated check-in screen. They will notify our Treatment Coordinator that you have checked in. She will escort you to one of our consultation rooms for your first visit with Dr. Paul Damon and Dr. Dwight Damon. You will need to fill out the necessary paperwork so we can clearly assess your dental needs.
This form can be filled out online and you can submit it to our office before your appointment to help you save time. We will take a digital full-mouth X-ray (Panorex) before you visit with the doctor. This is a tool that helps our doctors understand your overall dental health and past dental history. The doctor will conduct a thorough examination and discuss your treatment options. We want to make sure you are comfortable in our office, and we will spend as much time as you need to have your questions answered. You may want to allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for your initial exam. If you are under 18 years of age, we will need a parent or guardian with you at the exam.
Diagnostic Records
After the examination, but before braces are placed on your teeth, diagnostic records are taken. These records include X-rays and digital photos. The orthodontic records are reviewed by the doctors to finalize the treatment plan. Please allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for the record taking process.
Consultation
Dr. Paul Damon and Dr. Dwight Damon will spend additional time with you going over your treatment options at a consultation. Consultations are recommended by the doctor based on the complexity of the treatment plan. In most cases you will not need a consultation appointment to get started with treatment in our office. Our goal is to make sure all of the treatment options are presented clearly to you before the start of treatment.
Start of Treatment
With all of the improvements in technology, getting your braces placed is no longer an uncomfortable process. The day your braces are placed, we usually allow 1.5 hours. We will go over foods to watch out for as well as techniques to take care of your braces. After the braces are put on, most of your adjustments will be made at 10-week intervals.
